Company

We build the rails, so teams can build everything else.

Sourceplane is a software company. We make Orunbase, the open-source engine orun, and openproduct.live: the platforms that let small teams, and the agents working beside them, ship like a great engineering organisation.

Our mission

Give every team, and every agent beside it, the discipline of a great engineering organisation from day one.

Most teams spend months building platform before a customer sees anything, or skip it and pay later. Agents make the gap more expensive: they rarely fail at writing code, and often fail because nothing told them what the system expects. Closing that gap is our work.

Our purpose

What we are here to change

Discipline should be the default

A catalog, pipelines, environments, policy and access should not be a luxury of large organisations. We make them the starting point, from a team’s first repository.

Agents need context, not just access

An agent with a credential and no context is a fast way to break production. Our products give every session what a senior engineer carries in their head: owners, dependencies, settled decisions.

Small teams deserve rails that hold

Rails are cheapest before a team grows past them. We build for four people and six agents shipping on a Friday night, and for the team they become.

Open by default

Our engine is open source and our products are built to be inspected. A platform you depend on should be one you can read.

The team

A small team that builds platforms for a living

We work in a few areas, and much of our day-to-day engineering happens with agents working inside the same rails we offer to everyone else.

Platform

Builds Orunbase and orun: the catalog, the guardrails, the state that runs and plans depend on, and the open-source compiler underneath them.

Product

Builds openproduct.live and everything people touch: the console, the documentation and the baselines teams start from.

Agents

Our agents pick up tasks, open pull requests and ship through the same review, policy and audit trail as everyone else, with narrow, explicit scopes.

Values

What we value and how we act

  1. 01

Make the right path the fast path.

If the safe way is the slow way, people and agents will route around it. We make it the quickest way to ship.

  2. 02

    Earn trust with evidence.

A plan, a log, an audit entry. Every claim our products make about a system should be something you can check.

  3. 03

    Meet teams where they are.

A prototype, a single deploy or a thousand services: we keep what works and put rails around it. No rewrites.

  4. 04

Build for the team you will become.

Rails that still hold when the team has tripled are worth more than rails that fit exactly today.

  5. 05

Write it down, then let the machine check it.

Intent declared beside the code beats a wiki page that drifts. If it matters, it should be verified on every commit.

  6. 06

    Use what we make.

We run Sourceplane on Orunbase and orun. When something is painful for us, it is painful for our users, and we fix it.
